TERMET is an add-on meteorological module for the TERPEM package, although it can also be used as a stand-alone meteorological tool.

• global database of duct statistics. A database is provided of the statistics of duct height, strength and thickness of surface, elevated and evaporation ducts for stations around the world. The surface and elevated duct statistics are derived from 10 years of radiosonde ascents at some 700 radiosonde stations around the globe. Annual and monthly statistics are provided. Annual evaporation duct statistics based on surface measurements are also included. The data are selected from a graphical map interface.

• radiosonde ascent constructor. This is a graphical tool for constructing radiosonde ascents based on the parameters in the statistical database. The ascent data can be saved to a file, or automatically linked to the TERPEM Met Editor for immediate execution.
• radiosonde viewer. This tool displays radiosonde ascents obtained from a file of radiosonde height/refractivity profiles. Individual ascents can be selected by date and time. An animated mode allows rapid previewing of a time sequence of ascents, giving an insight into the time evolution of ducting events. Filters can be applied to show only ascents with ducts. As with the statistics-based ascents, the ascent data can be saved to a file, or automatically linked to the TERPEM Met Editor for immediate execution.
• radiosonde database. A few sample ascent files are supplied with the standard TERMET package. Further ascent data are available to order. 20 years of data from all WMO radiosonde stations are available. Longer time spans can be provided to special order.
• compatibility with stand-alone TERPEM. For those customers who have incorporated our TERPEM engine into their own software suites, TERMET produces radiosonde ascent profile data in ".met" file format compatible with the TERPEM Met Editor.
